How am I getting there?
To get to Galicia, the best way is to fly to one of its airports. The largest airport, Santiago de Compostela (SCQ) is serviced by low-cost and regular airlines, connecting it to cities all over Spain as well as to the UK, Ireland, Switzerland and Germany. The other airports in Galicia are located in La Coruña which is slightly closer to Valdoviño (with direct flights to London-Heathrow) and Vigo which is around 200 km away.
S&B offers free airport transfers at Santiago and A Coruña airports for those who book S&B plus for 6 nights. Airport transfers can be arranged upon request and availability.
Public transport
From both airports, Santiago de Compostela and A Coruña, there are urban busses that connect the airport with the city and main bus station. Once you arrive to the main bus station there are bus lines that connect Santiago de Compostela (http://www.monbus.es/es/rutas-puntos-de-venta/162/viajar-ferrol-santiago-de-compostela/) and A Coruña (http://arriva.es/index.php?option=com_buscalineas&view=resultados&Itemid=86&pOrigen=257&pDestino=84&fecha=29/10/2014) with the city of Ferrol. From Ferrol you can take an urban bus to Valdoviño (http://www.autospaco.es/servicios/servicios-de-autobuses/autobuses-de-linea/autobuses-ferrol-playa-de-a-frouxeira-valdovino/)
(Rental) car
In case you want to spend more time in Galicia and thus rent a car, there are plenty of options for car rentals at both airports. The roads in Galicia are very good and easy to get by. You just need to get toward the highway AP-9, direction Ferrol. From Ferrol, there are clear signs that lead you to Valdoviño (road direction Cedeira). You enter the town and go straight until you hit a roundabout that leads you to the beach. You take this road to the beach and then take a right after about 300m, 250m later turn left and you will find our hot pink house in front of you.
Parking is easily available as it is a residential area with few cars.
If you have any questions about how to get here, please contact us.
Is it dangerous to surf in Valdoviño?
All of our surf teachers are well qualified and will never compromise on the safety of our guests. When the ocean gets rough though, there are other, more protected beaches that we will take you to. The waves in Valdoviño can be mighty but they guarantee that you will have an awesome time.
What do I need to bring?
You will need to bring the usual things that are required if you go on a surf trip. That means, you need to have your ID card (or passport), medical insurance card, clothing (beach wear, swim gear, beach towels, sun protection and you may want to bring a sweater for breezing nights). Surf & Breakfast will provide the bed sheets, towels for the guest house (i.e. to shower) and the required material to go and enjoy surfing!
